My Story

I’ve always had a heart for youth, especially those navigating circumstances they didn’t choose. I truly believe that when you give kids the right tools, support, and encouragement, they will rise, thrive, and prove just how capable they are.

Even though I was raised in a loving, middle-class home and didn’t personally experience those challenges, I saw them up close. My parents were foster parents from the time I was in elementary school, my dad was a pastor and my mom also ran a daycare, so there were always kids around. They poured into people who just wanted a better life but didn’t always have the tools. That shaped me. It showed me that the ones who often suffer the most are the kids....kids who are full of potential but short on resources, stability, or someone who truly believes in them.

That calling stayed with me, and it’s what led me to start You Can Skate, Inc. Our mission is about so much more than skating, it’s about helping youth and families move forward, grow in confidence, and see what’s possible when someone invests in them.

Looking back, it feels fitting that nearly every role in my life has involved working with people. Serving them, supporting them, and helping them navigate life. Whether in customer service, leadership, volunteer work or a ministry settings. I’ve always been drawn to spaces where I could connect with others and make a difference. That thread runs straight into the heart of You Can Skate, Inc.

As the Founder, President, and Executive Director, I lead with love, service, and vision. Whether it’s through free skating lessons, community outreach, or our You Can Skate Academy. We’re building spaces where people can grow, not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

This scripture was always in my home growing up,

In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.” — Proverbs 3:6

It was my mom’s favorite scripture and she had it on our landline voicemail. And now, I see clearly that God has directed me to this path. I'm just walking it; in faith.
